AIDS victims bring home message to men who stray

Star: Please think of your family before doing anything that you will regret later. Once you are infected with HIV, the whole family has to suffer along with you.
This was the message three women, all AIDS victims, had for men who seek the services of prostitutes.
Ah Li, 40, Ah Mei, 44, and Ah Ying, 36, (not their real names), told China Press in an interview that they were infected with HIV through their husbands.
They were interviewed at a Chap Goh Meh celebration at Pure Lotus Hospice of Compassion in Penang recently.
The hospice, which had planned to set up a home for AIDS patients, still lack RM10mil to continue the project, the daily reported.
The women now have to bear the burden of supporting their family while coping with their own illnesses and looking after their children, who are not infected.
The wives said they had to carry on with their lives, yet nevertheless fearful that they could die anytime and their children would not be cared for.
“I have no choice now and can only hope that God will allow me to live a few more years to take care of my five children aged between seven and 15,” said Ah Li, whose husband died a year ago.
Ah Mei, from Penang, said she only found out about her husband's disease after he died five years ago.
Ah Ying, from Butterworth, had to look after her husband who was paralysed due to the disease as well as her mother and brother, who are suffering from kidney ailment, and her seven-year-old son.
