Measures to attract and retain local doctors

Star: A BETTER working environment, better financial perks and career advancement are among measures to attract and retain local doctors, reported Sin Chew Daily.
The daily, quoting Health Ministry parliamentary secretary Datuk Lee Kah Choon, as saying that the Government had put these measures in place to prevent a shortage of healthcare professionals in the country.
Lee added that the Government was looking into ways to offer better remuneration to local medical graduates.
He, however, added that the remuneration would still be slightly lower than that offered by the private sector.
He said the Government would not simply recognise medical degrees of other countries in its efforts to address the shortage problem.
