Palliative Care To Be Available In Six Govt Hospitals

KOTA KINABALU, June 15 (Bernama) -- The Health Ministry plans to provide palliative care for terminally-ill patients at six of its hospitals under the Ninth Malaysia Plan (9MP).
Director-general of Health Tan Sri Dr Mohd Ismail Merican said the six were the Penang Hospital, Selayang Hospital, Sultanah Aminah Hospital, Kota Bharu Hospital, Kuching Hospital and the Queen Elizabeth Hospital, here.
"Terminally-ill patients also deserve the best professional care available," said Ismail in his speech, the text of which was delivered by Sabah Health Department principal assistant director Dr Awang Setia Musleh, at the opening of the 7th Malaysia Hospice Congress here.
Ismail said the ministry was in the process of recruiting the needed people to run the service.
