Star: KUCHING: Sarawak's health authorities have again reminded parents to keep their young children indoors to avoid contracting the hand, food and mouth (HFM) disease.
Some parents were still sending their children to public libraries and play centres at fast food restaurants.
“This must stop,” said Deputy Chief Minister Tan Sri Dr George Chan Hong Nam, adding that they were exposing their kids to the danger of being infected with the disease.
“I hope that all parents will abide by the state authorities’ advice.”
He said parents should understand that the precautionary measures were necessary as the number of HFM cases state-wide has risen to 5,400 this year.
The number of new cases reported has dropped gradually in the past several days.
