KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 17 (Bernama) -- The Kampung Baru Medical Centre (KBMC) here has become the first private hospital in the country to adopt the Mesra Ibadah, a concept which enables and facilitates its in-patients to carry out their religious obligations.
Deputy Information Minister Datuk Ahmad Zahid Hamidi launched the concept at the hospital Sunday.
KBMC Director Dr Ishak Mas'ud told a press conference after the function that necessary items like praying veil for women patients, prayer mats and dust for ritual cleansing for those who could not do the ablution would be provided.
"KBMC has also appointed two officers to guide and advise patients in the wards to perform their religious obligations," he added.
In another development, he said a consortium of Muslim Hospitals had been formed to ensure collaboration of all Muslim hospitals in the country.
The consortium members included the Pusrawi Hospital, Al Zahrah Hospital at Bangi, Danau Kota Hospital, KBMC and the Universiti Sains Malaysia Hospital in Kubang Kerian Kelantan, as an associate member.
Meanwhile, Zahid said Radio Televisyen Malaysia (RTM) would make a recording on the concept of the "Mesra Ibadah" in the hospital for broadcast in the programme "Panorama".
