NST: PETALING JAYA: The nearly 7,000 medical assistants in the public sector will finally get the recognition they deserve in terms of promotions and perks.
The Health Ministry’s Medical Development Division director Datuk Dr Noorimi Morad announced yesterday that the ministry was looking into their prospects for promotions and giving them a critical allowance, which doctors and nurses receive.
She was speaking after opening the three-day Medical Assistants National Conference in Subang Jaya.
The critical allowance is an extra payment on top of the salary for being on call.
Health Minister Datuk Dr Chua Soi Lek said in his speech, which was read out by Dr Noorimi, that he would consider creating new posts, reviewing salaries and providing other incentives.
