Star: SEREMBAN: The country cannot afford to be ill-prepared should there be any outbreak of infectious diseases, Health Ministry director of disease control Datuk Dr Ramlee Rahmat said.
“It is difficult to control infectious diseases such as the avian influenza which may be transmitted by migrant birds,” he told participants of the Rapid Response for Avian and Pandemic Influenza – Training for Trainers workshop here yesterday.
“We must be ready and do our best to control and eradicate the disease when it happens.”
The three-day event, which includes an airport exercise, will see both local experts and those from the United States sharing knowledge and experiences in the battle against the disease.
