Star: SOME 50,000 residents in the Hutan Melintang area have complained about the alleged unsatisfactory services provided by the medical and ambulance facilities there, Malaysia Nanban reported.
They claimed that some of the staff members were rude or reluctant to help those who called in for help, the report said.
Some even claimed that they got a reply saying that the ambulance driver was “not available” when they called in during emergencies.
The paper said sick people were often told to take either the taxi or find their own transport to the Teluk Intan District Hospital to seek treatment.
The complaints have been referred to Hutan Melintang assemblyman and Perak MIC chief Datuk G. Rajoo, who said a full investigation would be carried out on the matter, adding that necessary action would be taken.
He added that the Government, under the Ninth Malaysia Plan, had allocated RM1.4mil to upgrade the medical facilities in the area.
On another issue, Tamil Nesan reported that blood donation campaigns should be held frequently to overcome the shortage of blood in hospitals.
“In recent times, the number of accidents has been increasing, resulting in (more) accident victims losing blood and needing blood transfusions,” Bagan Dalam assemblyman P.K. Subbaiyah was quoted as saying in Tamil Nesan.
He said donating blood was a noble cause and should be appreciated.
