12 government hospital projects delayed

source

The Health Ministry has classified twelve government hospital projects as “way behind schedule”.
It's parliamentary secretary Lee Kah Choon said the contractors had been issued warning letters and both the Health Ministry and the Works Ministry were monitoring these projects.
"If there is no progress, we will terminate their contracts, as in the case of the Cameron Highlands Hospital," he said when replying in the Dewan Rakyat told Lau Yeng Peng (BN - Puchong).
Lee said the ministry was unable to ensure that such delays would not recur, adding that delays were usually due to factors such as financial problems faced by contractors, lack of experience in implementing projects and poor management.
He said ensuring that experienced contractors with a good track record were appointed could lessen the problem.
