Plans to revamp KLH security system

The assault on a seven-month pregnant doctor at the Kuala Lumpur Hospital (KLH) has led to plans to revamp the security system there.
Police will meet with security firms employed by KLH to beef up the system, following the shocking news that a 31-year-old general practitioner was punched and robbed of her valuables at the doctor's lounge on the fifth floor of the main building.
The doctor had gone to the lounge at 7.30am on Friday for a nap before her shift started.
However, she was awakened by a man believed to be an Indonesian who demanded for her cash and valuables.
When she refused, the man kicked her. The doctor fought back but collapsed unconscious on the floor during the struggle.
At 9.15am, a hospital staff who came to inform her that her shift had started found the doctor lying on the floor with a bleeding face and bruised eye.
Dang Wangi OCPD Assistant Commissioner Kamal Pasha Jamal, who visited the doctor at the Coronary Care Unit yesterday, said more police personnel would be placed at KLH, if necessary.
“We cannot let such an incident happen again,” he said, adding that KLH would be advised to install more closed-circuit television cameras.
