CSMU students in a fix over funds

Malaysians studying at the Crimea State Medical University (CSMU), which has been derecognised by the Government, are facing problems sourcing for funds.
They claimed that the Employees Provident Fund (EPF) had refused to allow education withdrawals while state foundations had recalled scholarships offered to them earlier.
MIC president Datuk Seri S. Samy Vellu said these agencies had refused to provide the financing, citing that CSMU was an unrecognised university.
“This is a wrong perception. The CSMU is still a recognised university and students who enter before Dec 31 this year will have their degrees recognised,” he said.
The Malaysian Medical Council announced that it would stop recognising CSMU medical degrees of students who join after Dec 31.
Samy Vellu said he would raise the matter with EPF and the Selangor and Johor state foundations.
