30 M'sian Doctors In Britain To Return Home

KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 15 (Bernama) -- At least 30 Malaysian medical specialists who are now working in Britain have agreed to return home to teach in local universities.
They made the decision after being persuaded by representatives of local universities who met them in Britain recently.
The medical specialists have agreed to teach in their former universities in Malaysia, Higher Education Minister Datuk Mustapa Mohamed told reporters here Tuesday.
He, however, did not say when these medical specialists will be returning home.
Mustapa said the number of places for the medical degree in local universities will be increased when the shortage in teaching staff has been overcome.
He added that the shortage of teaching staff had forced the government to send students to Britain and elsewhere to study medicine.
Currently, there are only 1,000 students studying medicine in local universities.
