MRCS team to leave for Damascus with medical supplies

Star: KUALA LUMPUR: The Malaysian Red Crescent Society (MRCS) has decided to send a team to assess the situation in the war-torn region in the Middle East.
The two-man assessment team will be leaving for Damascus tomorrow with a tonne of medical supplies provided by MRCS and the Malaysian public.
Some of the items were handed over by MRCS deputy national chairman Hisham Harun Hashim to the Lebanese Embassy's first secretary Giscard El-Khoury at the 58th Geneva Convention anniversary commemoration at the MRCS headquarters here yesterday.
MRCS is appealing for cash donations to support the relief operations of the Lebanese Red Cross Society and its neighbouring national societies.
Cheque contributions with “Humanitarian crisis in the Middle East” written on the back can be sent to the Malaysia Red Cresent Society at 32, Jalan Nipah off Jalan Ampang, 55000 Kuala Lumpur.
Donations can also be deposited into MRCS Maybank Account No: 5144 2210 2657. All donations will be tax-exempt.
